I want to welcome you to Everything EHST and hope that you finding everything you need to effectively and with less effort as well as learning something new about the area you work in. If you are not finding all of those resources you are letting us know so they can be added for future use. Well, of course you are not finding everything because we have just opened up the portal and each one of the fields covered; worker health and safety, emergency response, environmental health, and hazardous materials transportation are expansive fields in their own right so we cannot expect this portal to capture it all just out of gate, but given time, you communicating to us what it is you want to see on the site and even making some contributions of your own to the community together we could realize that goal, hence the name Everything EHST.
Clearly the purpose and goals of the portal are as ambitious as they are aspirational; to provide an all-encompassing community forum for these distinct, but as the same time very much overlapping communities, to come together that they can lead to each becoming stronger as a result. Speaking of forums, when you describe Everything EHST to a colleague you would describe it as a resource site having links to government sites, resources, lists of sites for job listings, podcasts, schools and professional development, listings of companies providing offerings important in you getting your business done, and so on. Well, once the site reaches the threshold of 200 regular daily visitors the site will be expanded to include social networking with the addition of topic forums, membership listings allowing people to become better acquainted, and the ability of members to interact. So talk to your colleagues, students, employees, employer, and professional group to build up the membership and make Everything EHST happen
As a parting word, do look out for my next blog post in about a month as they will be posted on a monthly intervals emphasizing how the vision of Everything EHST is being realized as well as the source of announcements of what is coming next for the site. In between the blog post there is being sent out to all members an e-newsletter that include notices of new additions, tips, member announcements, and anything else that might be of interest to the community. In closing I hope it is clear to what the potential of Everything EHST, if not the reality, is and that we are committed to the community and so plan on being here for you for many years to come.
